Remo Williams: The Adventure Begins is a 1985 action-adventure film directed by Guy Hamilton and based on The Destroyer series of novels. The movie follows the story of a cop named Samuel "Sam" Makin who is declared dead by his department and recruited by a secret government agency known as CURE to become an assassin in service of the US President.

Under the guidance of his mentor, Harold Smith, Remo (played by Fred Ward) undergoes rigorous training to become a skilled assassin and master various martial arts under the guise of a Korean martial artist named Chun. Along the way, he also meets an attractive and able CURE operative named Major Rayner Fleming (played by Kate Mulgrew) who assists him in his missions.

Remo's first assignment is to eliminate a corrupt weapons manufacturer involved in selling arms to foreign countries. However, things go awry when the manufacturer discovers Remo's true identity and hires a hitman named Stone (played by Joel Grey) to eliminate him.

With the assistance of Major Fleming, Remo must use his unique skills and cunning to evade Stone and complete his mission. The film culminates in a high-stakes confrontation between Remo and Stone on the Statue of Liberty.

The film received mixed reviews from critics but was a moderate box-office success. Despite initial plans for a sequel, a follow-up film was never produced.
