Documentary,Adventure  United States of America

The 2011 REEL ROCK Film Tour featured six short films, each featuring some of the most accomplished climbers in the world. The films covered a wide range of climbing styles, from traditional rock climbing to ice climbing, bouldering, highlining, and even speed climbing.

One of the most notable films in the tour was "The Swiss Machine," which chronicled the exploits of Swiss climber Ueli Steck as he attempted to set a new speed record on the Eiger's North Face. The film also explores Steck's controversial free solo climbs and his drive to push the limits of what is possible.

Another of the films, "Origins: Obe and Ashima," followed the journeys of two young climbers from very different backgrounds. Obe Carrion grew up on the streets of New York City and discovered climbing as a way out of a life of crime, while Ashima Shiraishi, a young Japanese-American climber, discovered her passion for the sport at the age of six. Despite their differences, both climbers share a deep love for the sport and a drive to succeed.

Other films in the tour included "The Sensei," which followed climbing legend John Long as he attempted to mentor a group of young climbers in the art of traditional climbing, and "Cold," which chronicled the first ascent of an ice climb in the Canadian Rockies, a feat accomplished by climbers Will Gadd and Tim Emmett in bitterly cold conditions.

Overall, the 2011 REEL ROCK Film Tour showcased the incredible diversity of climbing and the remarkable achievements of some of the world's most talented climbers.
