Red Rover

Red Rover is an independent film directed by Shane Belcourt and starring Kristian Bruun and Cara Gee. The film follows the life of a lonely geologist named Damon who lives in Toronto and feels like he has nothing left to live for on earth. After stumbling upon an advertisement for a one-way mission to Mars, Damon becomes obsessed with the idea of starting a new life on the red planet and leaving his earthly troubles behind.

Damon decides to apply for the mission but quickly learns that he needs to undergo intense physical and mental testing before he can qualify. Unsure of whether he will pass these tests or not, he meets a quirky musician named Phoebe who is also struggling with her own personal demons.

As the two begin to spend more time together, they form a unique bond and find comfort in each other's company. As Damon prepares for his mission to Mars, he begins to question whether leaving everything behind is really worth it and whether he truly wants to be alone on a barren planet.

The film deals with themes of loneliness, self-discovery, and the search for meaning in life. It was praised for its strong performances and intimate storytelling and won several awards on the film festival circuit.
