Raymond and Ray are two half-brothers who had never met each other until their father, Walter, dies. Upon his death, they are summoned to his hometown in Alabama, where they learn that Walter's last wish was for them to dig his grave together. As they set out to complete this odd task, they start to unpack their complicated relationship with their father and with each other.

Raymond is a successful lawyer in Los Angeles, who has always resented Walter for abandoning him as a child. On the other hand, Ray is a struggling musician, who idolized Walter and had a closer relationship with him. Their differences manifest in their approaches to digging the grave, and the conflicts that arise threaten to derail their already shaky connection.

As they work through their issues, Raymond and Ray find common ground in their grief and their sense of being outsiders in their respective communities. They come to understand that their father's legacy is not just the pain he caused them, but also the resilience and grit he instilled in them.

The film is a heartfelt exploration of father-son relationships, brotherhood, and the complexities of family ties. Director Rodrigo García infuses the movie with a wry humor that balances out the heavy emotions, and the lead performances by Finn Wittrock and Simon Helberg are nuanced and affecting. Raymond & Ray is a moving portrait of two men learning to reconcile their past and present, and to find their way forward together.
