Rawhead Rex is a 1986 horror film directed by George Pavlou and based on a short story by Clive Barker. The film follows the story of a demonic creature, Rawhead Rex, who is unleashed from his underground prison by a farmer who unknowingly disturbs his lair. Rawhead Rex is a towering, hulking beast with razor-sharp teeth and an insatiable thirst for blood. He begins a murderous spree in the Irish countryside, attacking and killing anyone who crosses his path.
Meanwhile, an American historian named Howard Hallenbeck arrives in Ireland with his family to research a nearby church. But Rawhead Rex is a formidable enemy, and Howard's efforts to stop him are complicated by a lack of resources and local authorities who are skeptical of his claims.
As Rawhead Rex continues his killing spree, Howard must use all his knowledge and ingenuity to stop him before it's too late. Along the way, he encounters a devout Catholic priest and a pagan woman who both have their own unique ways of dealing with the demonic creature.
The film features a mix of practical effects and animatronics to bring Rawhead Rex to life, and was particularly notable at the time of release for its graphic violence and gore.
