Ravenous is a 1999 horror film directed by Antonia Bird and starring Guy Pearce, Robert Carlyle, and Jeffrey Jones. It tells the story of a remote military fort in the Sierra Nevada Mountains during the 1840s, where a mysterious stranger, Colonel Ives (Carlyle), arrives claiming to have survived a tragic incident in the wilderness. However, it soon becomes evident that Ives and his men are not what they appear to be, as they reveal themselves to be a group of cannibals driven mad by their hunger for human flesh and blood.

As the number of cannibal attacks in the surrounding areas increases, the fort's commanding officer, Captain John Boyd (Pearce), teams up with a Native American scout, named George (Russell Means), and a band of survivors to venture into the forest to find and stop Ives and his group before they can continue their gruesome rampage.

Throughout their perilous journey, the group encounters a number of challenges and obstacles, including harsh weather conditions, treacherous terrain, and the constant threat of attack from their cannibalistic pursuers. As tensions rise and paranoia sets in, the survivors must also confront their own darkest desires and fears in order to survive.

Ravenous is known for its unique blend of horror, dark humor, and historical themes, as well as its haunting score by composer Michael Nyman. The film received mixed reviews upon its initial release, but has since gained a cult following for its unconventional take on the cannibalism subgenre.
