The Composer's Conundrum: A Musical Misadventure

Raising the Wind is a British comedy film released in 1961. The film was directed by Gerald Thomas and produced by the famous Carry On producer, Peter Rogers. The screenplay was written by Norman Hudis.

The movie follows the story of a group of music students who have come to London to study at the music academy. The students are struggling to make ends meet and are living in a small flat together. Their financial situation becomes worse when they lose their scholarship funding.

Mervyn Hughes, one of the students, accidentally sells one of his compositions to an advertising agency for a considerable amount of money. He is torn between using the money to support his friends and paying off his debts to the academy.

The film is a typical British comedy of the time and features a host of brilliant actors. James Robertson Justice plays the role of the academy director. Sid James, Leslie Phillips, Kenneth Williams and Liz Fraser play the roles of the music students. Eric Barker plays the advertising executive who buys Mervyn's composition.
