Raising Cain is a psychological thriller directed by Brian De Palma, released in 1992. The film centers around Jenny and her husband Carter, who is a child psychologist. When Jenny begins to notice neighborhood children disappearing, she grows increasingly concerned that Carter may be involved in their disappearance. Her fears are compounded by the fact that Carter's own father, a renowned child psychologist, had performed experimental treatments on Carter when he was a child that left him with split personalities.

As the disappearances continue and Jenny investigates, she discovers that Carter has indeed been abducting the children, though it is unclear why at first. Then, Carter's alter-ego, Cain, emerges and kidnaps their daughter, Amy. Jenny races against time to rescue her daughter before it's too late.

The film is known for its intricate plot twists and multiple layers of deception, as well as its exploration of the concept of multiple personalities. It stars John Lithgow in a dual role as Carter and Cain, with Lolita Davidovich as Jenny. Raising Cain received mixed reviews upon its release but has since developed a cult following due to its unique storyline and De Palma's signature directing style.
