Drama,Romance  United States of America

Racing with the Moon is a 1984 coming-of-age drama film directed by Richard Benjamin and starring Sean Penn, Nicolas Cage, and Elizabeth McGovern. The film is set in the early 1940s and follows the lives of two teenage boys, Henry "Hopper" Nash (Sean Penn) and Nicky (Nicolas Cage), in a small California town.

As the film opens, Hopper and Nicky are high school seniors with only a few months left before they are drafted to fight in World War II. They spend their days drinking, chasing girls, and trying to avoid thinking about their uncertain futures. Hopper falls for Caddie Winger (Elizabeth McGovern), a new girl in town who he believes is wealthy and sophisticated. However, he soon discovers that she is actually from a poor family and works as a waitress.

Meanwhile, Nicky gets into trouble with the law, forcing Hopper and Caddie to become involved in his mess. Hopper is torn between his loyalty to his friend and his growing feelings for Caddie. As the summer progresses and the boys prepare to leave for the war, they are forced to confront their own fears and insecurities, testing the strength of their relationship and their friendship.

Racing with the Moon received mixed reviews from critics but was praised for its nostalgic depiction of small-town life in the 1940s and its performances by Penn, Cage, and McGovern. The film features a memorable soundtrack of classic songs from the era, including "Sentimental Journey" and "I'll Be Seeing You."
