Quartet is a 2012 British comedy-drama film directed by Dustin Hoffman and written by Ronald Harwood. The film is set in Beecham House, a retirement home for musicians in the English countryside, and follows the residents as they prepare for their annual concert to celebrate the birthday of composer Giuseppe Verdi.

The film stars Maggie Smith, Tom Courtenay, Billy Connolly, and Pailine Collins as the main characters, all former opera singers who are living out their final years at Beecham House. When Jean Horton (Maggie Smith), a famous opera singer and former wife of one of the residents, arrives at the home, tensions rise as old grudges resurface and romantic entanglements begin.

As the residents rehearse for the concert, they must confront their fading abilities and confront their past mistakes. A competition begins as each resident tries to outdo the other in the concert, with the presence of Jean adding to the drama.

Quartet was based on a play of the same name by Ronald Harwood, who also wrote the screenplay. The film was highly praised for its performances and direction, with many critics noting a standout performance by Maggie Smith. It was also noted for its respectful portrayal of the elderly and the value of music in their lives.
