As the group of survivors navigates the zombie-infested streets of Los Angeles, they face various challenges and obstacles in their quest for safety and, ultimately, a way out of the city.
The group includes a former military officer with combat experience, a resourceful nurse who becomes the de facto leader of the group, a teenage hacker who uses his computer skills to gather information and access secure locations, a pregnant woman whose unborn child may hold the key to a cure for the virus, an elderly couple struggling to keep up with the group's pace, a young couple trying to protect each other at all costs, and a mysterious loner with a hidden agenda.
As they search for a way to escape the city, they must also contend with other survivor groups, hostile military forces, and the ever-present threat of the infected. Along the way, they uncover secrets about the origins of the virus, the government's involvement in the outbreak, and the true nature of the infected humans.
With time running out and their resources dwindling, the group must make difficult decisions and sacrifices in order to survive and hopefully find a way to restore humanity in a world that has been forever changed by the outbreak.
