The film begins with a high-speed car chase through the mountains of Italy, with Bond (played by Daniel Craig) pursuing the man responsible for Vesper's betrayal. He captures the man and turns him over to MI6, but not before learning that Vesper was actually manipulated by a mysterious organization known as Quantum.
