In the movie Puzzle, Agnes (played by Kelly Macdonald) is a devoted wife and mother who has put her own desires and aspirations aside to take care of her family. She spends her days cleaning and cooking, attending church, and taking care of her husband and two sons.
One day, Agnes receives a jigsaw puzzle as a birthday gift from her Auntie and is immediately hooked. She discovers that not only does she enjoy the puzzles, but she is also very talented at putting them together. Agnes becomes obsessed with puzzling and starts visiting a puzzle store in the city to buy more challenging puzzles.
At the puzzle store, she sees a flyer for a partner in a competitive jigsaw puzzle tournament. Agnes is intrigued and decides to call the number on the flyer. She meets Robert (played by Irrfan Khan), a wealthy inventor and puzzle enthusiast who is seeking a partner for the tournament. Robert is impressed by Agnes's skills and agrees to partner with her.
As Agnes spends more time with Robert, she begins to question her own life and the choices she has made. She starts to realize that she has never truly lived for herself, and that puzzling is the first thing she has ever done that she has been truly passionate about.
As Agnes and Robert continue to train for the tournament, their relationship becomes more complex. Agnes is torn between her loyalty to her family and her growing feelings for Robert. Eventually, Agnes must make a choice between her old life and a new, more fulfilling one.
Puzzle is a touching and authentic exploration of self-discovery and personal growth. The film portrays the intricate emotions involved in breaking free from the expectations of family and community, and finding one's own path in life.
