In the film Pufnstuf, Jimmy accidentally sails into Living Island while trying to run away from his overbearing parents. Once there, he meets the friendly Mayor Pufnstuf (voiced by Lennie Weinrib), a dragon with a heart of gold who tries to help Jimmy get back home.
Along with Freddy, Jimmy also befriends a collection of colorful characters, including Orson the Vulture (voiced by Dallas McKennon), Ludicrous Lion (voiced by Allan Melvin), and Dr. Blinky (voiced by Joan Gerber). They all rally together to try and protect Freddy from the clutches of Witchiepoo, who schemes up various ways to win the Witch of the Year Award.
Despite her nefarious plans, Jimmy and his friends always seem to be one step ahead of Witchiepoo. But in the end, it takes the help of a friendly dragon to defeat her once and for all and to send Jimmy back home safely.
Pufnstuf was an iconic children's television show in the late 1960s, and the film adaptation was directed by Sid and Marty Krofft, the creators of the original series.
