Psycho II is a 1983 American slasher film and a sequel to the iconic 1960 film Psycho. Directed by Richard Franklin and written by Tom Holland, the film stars Anthony Perkins, who reprises his role as Norman Bates, and Vera Miles, who also reprises her role as Lila Crane.

The film begins with Norman Bates being released from a mental institution, where he has been treated for the past 22 years. He returns to his hometown of Fairvale, California, and moves back into the Bates Motel, which has been renovated and reopened by a local businessman named Warren Toomey.

As Norman tries to rehabilitate himself and rebuild his life, he begins to experience strange occurrences at the motel. He also starts receiving creepy notes from an unknown stalker, and begins to suspect that his mother is still alive and trying to control his actions.

Meanwhile, a series of murders occurs in Fairvale, with the victims all connected to Norman and the Bates Motel. This leads Sheriff John Hunt to suspect that Norman is behind the killings, and he begins to investigate.

As Norman struggles to maintain his sanity and prove his innocence, he is faced with a series of shocking revelations that force him to question his own identity and the nature of his relationship with his mother.

The film was a critical and commercial success, and Perkins was praised for his performance as Norman Bates. The film also spawned two sequels, Psycho III (1986) and Psycho IV: The Beginning (1990).
