Kate and her husband, Brian, have been married for years, but their marriage has been strained due to Brian's demanding job as a lawyer. With Brian busy working all the time, Kate is left to take care of their two children on her own. She is grateful when her brother-in-law David, who has been estranged from the family for years, comes back into their lives to help out with the children and household chores.
David is charming and helpful at first, but Kate quickly begins to suspect that he has ulterior motives. He starts to make suggestions about how the family could improve their finances and begins to take over more and more of Brian's responsibilities at home.
