Charming Sunny: A Diplomatic Triumph

Comedy  United States of America

Protocol is a 1984 American comedy film directed by Herbert Ross and starring Goldie Hawn. The film follows Sunny Davis, a kind and naive cocktail waitress who saves the life of a Middle Eastern Emir while he is on a visit to the United States. As a reward for her heroism, Sunny is given a high-paying job working for the State Department in Washington, D.C.

However, Sunny soon finds herself in over her head when she realizes that her job involves dealing with intimidating politicians and ruthless diplomats who will stop at nothing to further their own interests. Her biggest nemesis is a scheming protocol officer named Clifford (played by Gail Strickland), who is intent on sabotaging Sunny's career at every turn.

Despite the obstacles, Sunny remains determined to prove herself and rise through the ranks of Washington's political elite. Her big chance comes when she is tasked with helping to negotiate an arms deal with an Arab country, and she must use all of her wit and charm to navigate the treacherous waters of international diplomacy.

As the stakes get higher and the pressure mounts, Sunny finds herself relying on the support of a handful of loyal friends, including her fellow cocktail waitresses and a dashing political aide named Michael (played by Chris Sarandon). Together, they work to thwart Clifford's plans and save the day, proving that even an unassuming waitress can make a big impact in the world of politics.
