Project Pay Day is a comedy about three high school students, Billy, Ethan, and Jason, who are forced to take summer jobs by their parents. Uninterested in working, they come up with the idea of inventing fake jobs so they can hang out instead. However, their plans quickly change when they decide they need to make money.
The boys start off by attempting to sell homemade lemonade, but their business fails due to lack of interest. They then move on to creating a fake charity where they solicit donations but pocket the money for themselves. This scheme works for a little while, but it ultimately backfires when they are caught by the police.
Next, the trio decides to start a dog-walking business, but their inexperience with animals leads to multiple mishaps and irritated customers. Frustrated with their lack of success, they turn to a risky plan to rob a bank by pretending to be movie filmmakers shooting a scene for their latest blockbuster. This plan initially seems to be successful, but the boys quickly realize the flaws in their plan and face the consequences.
Throughout the film, the boys learn the value of hard work, honesty, and responsibility. Against all odds, they eventually find success and establish a real, legitimate business that they can be proud of.
