Prizzi's Honor is a crime-comedy movie released in 1985. Directed by John Huston, the movie is based on the novel of the same name by Richard Condon. The film features Jack Nicholson as Charley Partanna, a professional hitman for the Prizzi crime family, and Kathleen Turner as Irene Walker, a hitwoman.
Charley and Irene meet at a family wedding, and despite their different professions, they are immediately attracted to each other. They begin a passionate relationship, but both are unaware that they have been hired to kill each other. Charley is assigned to kill Irene because she is suspected of stealing from the Prizzi family, while Irene is tasked with killing Charley as part of a contract by a rival gang.
As they plan their respective hits, Charley and Irene struggle to come to terms with their conflicting emotions. They both begin to question their loyalty to their respective employers and the nature of their chosen profession.
Tensions rise as they both carry out their assignments, leading to a final confrontation between the two hitmen. In the end, the love between Charley and Irene is put to the ultimate test as they have to decide whether to choose their loyalty to their family or their love for each other.
Prizzi's Honor received critical acclaim from audiences and critics alike, and was nominated for eight Academy Awards, winning one for Best Supporting Actress for Anjelica Huston, who played Charley's scheming ex-lover.
