Prison on Fire is a 1987 Hong Kong action drama film directed by Ringo Lam and starring Chow Yun-fat and Tony Leung Ka-fai. The film depicts the harsh reality of life inside a Hong Kong prison, exploring the issues of corruption, brutality, and survival.

Lo Ka Yiu (played by Tony Leung) has been sentenced to three years in prison for manslaughter. He quickly learns that prison life is extremely tough and dangerous, especially for someone like him who is not street-wise. He is bullied, beaten, and harassed by both wardens and fellow inmates, many of whom belong to the notorious Triad gang.

Thankfully, Yiu is taken under the wing of Chung Tin Ching (played by Chow Yun-fat), an experienced inmate and a member of the Triads. Despite their initial mistrust, they form a bond and Ching shares his knowledge of prison life with Yiu, teaching him how to survive and look out for himself.

However, trouble soon arises when Yiu falls foul of the corrupt warden, who is in cahoots with the Triads. Ching is forced to intervene and protect Yiu from harm, leading to a series of violent confrontations.

As tensions between the inmates and the authorities escalate, Ching and Yiu become caught up in a power struggle that culminates in a brutal showdown with the head of security. Through it all, the two men must rely on their wits and each other to stay alive and avoid being consumed by the harsh reality of prison life.

Overall, Prison on Fire is a gritty and intense film that highlights the brutal realities of life in a Hong Kong prison. The film was a critical and commercial success upon its release and is still considered a classic of Hong Kong cinema.
