The movie begins with three American filmmakers, Sarah, Scott, and Jack, traveling to rural Quebec to make a documentary about the infamous Aurore Gagnon murder case. Aurore Gagnon was a young Canadian girl who was brutally murdered by her stepmother in 1920 and her case remains one of the most notorious and gruesome child murder cases in Canadian history.
While researching the case, the filmmakers uncover some disturbing details about the murder and begin to experience several inexplicable paranormal occurrences. They hear strange noises, see strange apparitions and are eventually led to a remote cabin in the woods, where they discover a mysterious thumb drive labelled "Dark Web".
Upon plugging in the thumb drive, they find footage of a man performing a ritual involving the remains of Aurore Gagnon. The man claims to have summoned the spirit of the child who then begins to torment the filmmakers.
As the supernatural occurrences intensify, the filmmakers struggle to escape the grip of the malevolent spirit and uncover the truth about the ritual and the identity of the man who performed it.
The film is a gripping, suspenseful horror movie that explores themes of obsession, guilt, and the consequences of tampering with dark forces.
