Prince of Foxes is a 1949 historical drama film directed by Henry King and starring Tyrone Power and Orson Welles. It is based on the novel of the same name by Samuel Shellabarger.

The story is set in Italy during the Renaissance period. Duke Cesare Borgia (played by Orson Welles) is a powerful and ruthless ruler who is determined to conquer central Italy and unify it under his control. His ambition is hindered by the fact that his sister, the beautiful and cunning Lucrezia (played by Wanda Hendrix), is already promised in marriage to the heir apparent of Ferrara.

In order to resolve this issue, Cesare enlists the help of Andrea Orsini (played by Tyrone Power), a skilled and cunning diplomat who is also his sister's lover. Orsini is sent on a delicate mission to Ferrara with the hope of winning over the heir apparent and securing Lucrezia's hand in marriage.

However, on his journey to Ferrara, Orsini meets Camilla Verano (played by Marina Berti), the beautiful and unhappy wife of the count of Citta' del Monte. The two characters are immediately drawn to each other and begin a passionate love affair.

As Orsini becomes more and more attached to Camilla, he begins to question his loyalty to Cesare and his mission. He realizes that he must choose between his love for Camilla and his loyalty to his deadly master, whom no one betrays twice.

The film was praised for its beautiful cinematography, authentic period detail, and strong performances by the lead actors. It was also noted for its accurate depiction of Renaissance Italy and the political and social complexities of the era.
