Pride and Prejudice is set in 19th-century England and follows the story of Elizabeth Bennet, the second eldest daughter of the Bennet family. Mrs. Bennet is determined to find suitable husbands for her daughters, and when two rich and single gentlemen, Mr. Bingley and Mr. Darcy, come into town, she sees an opportunity for her daughters to find love and security.
However, Mr. Darcy's pride and Elizabeth's prejudice against him make it difficult for them to get along. Meanwhile, Mr. Bingley falls in love with Elizabeth's older sister, Jane, but is discouraged by his friend Mr. Darcy, who thinks that Jane's feelings for Bingley are not genuine.
Throughout the movie, Elizabeth and Mr. Darcy's relationship is tested through various misunderstandings and social expectations. Elizabeth's family is also a source of embarrassment, with her mother and younger sisters constantly causing scenes and being ill-mannered.
As Elizabeth and Mr. Darcy come to understand each other better, they start to fall in love. However, their relationship is threatened by a scandal involving Elizabeth's younger sister, Lydia, and Mr. Wickham, who has a vendetta against Mr. Darcy.
In the end, love conquers all, and Elizabeth and Mr. Darcy overcome their pride and prejudice to finally confess their love for each other. The Bennet sisters all find suitable husbands, and Mrs. Bennet's dreams of having her daughters settled are finally realized.
