In Prep & Landing, Wayne and Lanny are part of an elite unit of elves responsible for preparing homes around the world for Santa's arrival on Christmas Eve. Wayne, a veteran of the unit, is disappointed to learn that he has been passed over for a promotion to director of the unit, and instead has been assigned a new rookie partner, Lanny.
Initially, Wayne is resistant to working with Lanny, viewing the young elf as inexperienced and a hindrance to his work. However, Lanny's enthusiastic approach to the job and unwavering commitment to the Spirit of Christmas gradually begins to rub off on Wayne.
Throughout the course of their mission, Wayne and Lanny encounter various obstacles, including a mischievous cat and a snowstorm that threatens to derail their plans. However, through their perseverance and teamwork, they are able to overcome these challenges and complete their mission successfully.
Along the way, Wayne comes to recognize the importance of the work that he and Lanny are doing, and realizes that the Spirit of Christmas is not just about presents and decorations, but about bringing joy and happiness to people all over the world.
In the end, Wayne and Lanny are hailed as heroes for their efforts, and Wayne gains a renewed sense of purpose and pride in his work as a member of Santa's elite unit.
