Robert and John are two New York investment bankers who live a lavish lifestyle in the heart of Manhattan. They are part of the 1% and are used to getting their way. However, their comfortable existence is disrupted when the 2011 Occupy Wall Street movement begins to gain traction. They are annoyed by the noise, the smell and the inconvenience caused by the protests and decide to take matters into their own hands.

They hatch a plan to stage a counter-movement called Occupy Occupy Wall Street. Their goal is to voice the concerns and grievances of the wealthy elite, who they feel is unfairly vilified by the protesters. They set up a tent in Zuccotti Park and begin to protest alongside the Occupy Wall Street activists.

The movie follows Robert and John's journey as they engage with the protesters and attempt to make their case for the importance of the 1%. Along the way, they meet a diverse group of activists, each with their own reasons for being part of the Occupy Wall Street movement. They are confronted by the harsh realities of inequality and come face to face with the flaws of the system they have been benefiting from.

Preoccupied is a satirical take on the Occupy Wall Street movement and explores the themes of privilege, social justice and activism. It portrays the clash between the 1% and the 99% in a humorous and thought-provoking way, highlighting the absurdities of the current socio-political landscape.
