Predator 2 is a 1990 science fiction action film directed by Stephen Hopkins and starring Danny Glover, Gary Busey, and Kevin Peter Hall. The film is a sequel to the 1987 film Predator and is set ten years after the events of the first film. It follows Detective Mike Harrigan (Glover) as he leads a team of police officers in a fight against a new predator, which has arrived in Los Angeles for unknown reasons.
The movie is set in the year 1997, and Los Angeles is depicted as a crime-ridden and violent city, dominated by gangs and drug dealers. The opening scene shows a heated shootout between rival drug gangs that is interrupted by the arrival of the predator. The predator quickly dispatches both sides and disappears into the shadows.
Harrigan and his team then investigate the scene and soon find themselves in the crosshairs of the predator. As they struggle to track it down, they are aided by a mysterious government agent, Peter Keyes (Busey), who seems to know more about the predator than he is letting on.
The film features several intense action set pieces, including a subway train chase and a climactic showdown between Harrigan and the predator on top of a skyscraper. It also explores the predator's culture and backstory through glimpses of its alien world and its hunting rituals.
Predator 2 received mixed reviews upon its initial release but has since gained a cult following. It spawned two sequels, Predators (2010) and The Predator (2018), as well as numerous video games, comic books, and other merchandise.
