Prayers for Bobby is a 2009 television movie based on the true story of Mary Griffith and her teenage son Bobby, who committed suicide after struggling with his homosexuality in the late 1970s. Mary believes that Bobby's homosexuality is a sin and tries to change him through therapy and religion, but ultimately fails.

After Bobby's death, Mary begins to question her beliefs and educates herself on homosexuality, meeting other parents of gay children and becoming an LGBT activist. She realizes that she was wrong to reject and condemn her son, and regrets not accepting him for who he was.

The film stars Sigourney Weaver as Mary Griffith, and Ryan Kelley as Bobby. It was adapted from the book Prayers for Bobby: A Mother's Coming to Terms with the Suicide of Her Gay Son by Leroy Aarons, and directed by Russell Mulcahy. The film received critical acclaim for its portrayal of the struggles faced by LGBT youth and their families, and was praised for its raw emotional power and poignant message of acceptance and love.
