Poor Little Rich Girl is a 1936 musical film starring Shirley Temple as Barbara Barry, a wealthy and lonely little girl who is sent to boarding school by her father, Richard Barry (Michael Whalen). Despite her privileged upbringing, Barbara is unhappy and yearns for love and attention from her distant and busy father.

On the way to school, Barbara's nurse is injured in a car accident, leaving the young girl stranded in a small town without any adult supervision. She is taken in by a radio song-and-dance act called Dolan and Dolan, consisting of former vaudevillians Tim (Jack Haley) and Pinky (Alice Faye).

The duo is sponsored by a rival soap company to Barry's, and they use Barbara's presence as a publicity stunt to promote their show. At first, Barbara is resistant to the idea of performing, but she quickly becomes enamored with the world of show business and enjoys singing and dancing with her newfound friends.

However, when her father comes to retrieve her and take her back to her privileged life, Barbara realizes that money and fame are not everything and learns the importance of family and love.

The film features several musical numbers, including "Military Man," "When I'm with You," and the titular song, "Poor Little Rich Girl." It was directed by Irving Cummings and written by Sam Hellman and Gladys Lehman.
