The 2015 remake of Poltergeist stars Sam Rockwell and Rosemarie DeWitt as the parents of a family that moves into a new suburban home. Strange occurrences begin to happen soon after they move in, such as electronic devices turning on and off on their own and objects moving by themselves. These incidents escalate to full-blown ghostly attacks, and when the youngest daughter, played by Kennedi Clements, is taken by the spirits into another dimension, the family is forced to confront the supernatural entities and rescue their child. Along with new age special effects, the film pays tribute to the original 1982 classic by using iconic elements from the original, while also giving it a modern-day spin. Despite mixed reviews from critics, the movie was a financial success.
