In the movie, the scientists who create the clone of Mewtwo have nefarious plans to use it as a weapon. However, Mewtwo gains sentience and rebels against its creators. It then sets out to carry out its own mission of destroying humanity, believing they are the source of its suffering.
Ash and his friends become entangled in the conflict when they are invited to a mysterious island by a masked stranger. They soon discover that the island is home to a powerful Pokémon trainer named Giovanni, who has enlisted Mewtwo to carry out his own evil plans.
Throughout the movie, Ash and his friends attempt to reason with Mewtwo and convince it to abandon its plans for destruction. They also face off against Giovanni and his team of trainers, who are determined to use Mewtwo's power for their own gain.
In the climax of the film, Ash and his friends engage in a battle against Mewtwo and its powerful clones. They manage to defeat the clones and convince Mewtwo to abandon its quest for vengeance. The movie ends with Mewtwo contemplating the value of life and its place in the world.
