Stacey Ruth Castor was a housewife in upstate New York married to her first husband, Michael Wallace. In 2000, Michael suddenly became ill and died, and Stacey claimed it was due to a heart attack. However, suspicions arose as Stacey had altered his will to leave her everything and the toxicology report showed he had ingested antifreeze.
Years later, Stacey met her boss, David. They began an affair and eventually married. However, in 2005, David was found dead in their home from apparent suicide by drinking antifreeze. Police suspected foul play due to the similarities to Michael's death and Stacey's strange behavior, including attempting to frame her daughter for the murder.
Stacey was eventually arrested and tried for David's murder as well as the attempted murder of her daughter. She was found guilty and sentenced to 51 years in prison.
The movie Poisoned Love: The Stacey Castor Story delves into the twisted mind of Stacey and the investigation that led to her conviction. It stars Nia Vardalos as Stacey and Mike Dopud as David.
