Captain Barbossa's resurrection is the result of a deal struck between him and the notorious pirate lord, Sao Feng. Feng agrees to bring Barbossa back to life in exchange for his help in finding the mythical Fountain of Youth. Meanwhile, Will and Elizabeth are on a mission to rescue Captain Jack Sparrow from Davy Jones' Locker, where he was last seen at the end of the previous movie. Along the way, they encounter a host of new characters, including the beautiful and dangerous mermaid Syrena, as well as several old enemies, such as the treacherous Cutler Beckett and Barbossa's former crewmate, Blackbeard. The quest for the Fountain of Youth is fraught with danger and betrayal, as each character's motivations become increasingly murky. In the end, it is discovered that Barbossa has his own agenda, and his true loyalty is called into question. The movie culminates in an epic battle at the edge of the Earth, as the various factions fight for control of the Fountain of Youth and the power it holds. In the end, some characters achieve their goals, while others are left to ponder what they truly value.
