In the movie, Pippi Longstocking sets off on an adventure with her friends, Tommy and Annika, to find her father who has been kidnapped by pirates. They travel through the South Seas on a ship that Pippi has re-purposed as her very own pirate ship, complete with a flag and a crew of animals.
During their journey, they encounter a group of cannibals, who they initially fear, but soon discover are friendly and hospitable. Pippi teaches them a few lessons about gender equality and independence, which they find fascinating and empowering.
Eventually, they reach the island where Pippi's father is being held captive. They devise a plan to rescue him, which involves Pippi using her incredible strength to overpower the pirates. In the end, they succeed in rescuing her father and everyone sails off into the sunset, happy and free.
