Pictures of Hollis Woods is a made-for-TV movie based on the Newbery Honor-winning novel by Patricia Reilly Giff. The film, directed by Tony Bill, follows the story of twelve year old Hollis Woods, an orphaned girl with a troubled past who has been in and out of foster homes her whole life.
After running away from her last foster placement with the Regan family, Hollis is brought to the home of Josie Cahill, a kind-hearted and artistic woman who sees potential in the troubled girl. Josie takes Hollis under her wing and encourages her to explore her own artistic talent. As Hollis begins to feel more at home with Josie, she becomes determined to help her new foster mother reunite with her estranged son.
As the bond between Hollis and Josie grows, Hollis begins to heal from her past traumas and learns the true meaning of family. However, when Hollis' past catches up to her, she must confront her demons and make a difficult decision that will not only affect her own future but the future of her foster family as well.
