The photographer, Sophie Hughes, is portrayed by Merritt Patterson. She is a successful and ambitious photographer who spends much of her time capturing incredible and dangerous feats performed by extreme-sports athletes. Despite her love for her fast-paced lifestyle, Sophie is a kind and caring person who is excited to return home to spend the holidays with her family.
When Sophie arrives home, she quickly discovers that her grandmother has been struggling with her health. Sophie decides to put her work on hold and commit herself to taking care of her grandmother. As she settles back into her childhood home, she meets a kind and caring neighbor, David, played by Jon Cor. David is a single father who is looking after his young nephew while his sister attempts to recover from a difficult time in her life.
David is struggling to balance the demands of work, taking care of a young child, and dealing with his sister's challenges. When Sophie offers to help him watch his nephew, they quickly develop a close bond and become good friends.
