Phat Girlz is a 2006 romantic comedy film that follows the story of two plus-sized African-American women, Jazmin Biltmore (played by Mo'Nique) and Stacey (played by Kendra C. Johnson). Jazmin is a struggling fashion designer who struggles to find success in the industry due to her size. Stacey is her best friend who works at a department store and struggles with her weight and self-esteem.

While on a trip to a plus-sized fashion convention in California, Jazmin meets Dr. Tunde Jonathan (played by Jimmy Jean-Louis), a Nigerian man who is initially attracted to her size. Jazmin, who is initially skeptical of Dr. Tunde's intentions, begins to develop feelings for him as they spend more time together.

Meanwhile, Stacey meets and falls for a Nigerian man named Akibo (played by Godfrey). Like Jazmin, Stacey is initially skeptical of Akibo's intentions, but eventually falls in love with him.

Despite facing criticism and discrimination due to their size, both Jazmin and Stacey find love and acceptance with their respective partners. The film sends a message of body positivity and celebrates the beauty of all shapes and sizes.

Phat Girlz was well-received by audiences and praised for its portrayal of plus-sized women. Mo'Nique's performance was particularly lauded, earning her a nomination for Best Actress at the BET Awards.
