In the movie, Pentatonix's manager accidentally locks them in a mailroom, forcing them to come up with holiday album ideas under a time crunch. Feeling uninspired, the group receives a special package from Disney with a clue that will lead them on a journey around the world to find new inspiration.

The group begins their adventure in Tokyo, where they witness a traditional Japanese New Year's celebration and are inspired by the beauty of Japanese lanterns. They then travel to Grenada, where they learn about the island's unique Christmas traditions, including a carnival-like celebration called Jouvert.

Next, Pentatonix heads to Ghana, where they experience a colorful and energetic Christmas celebration filled with drumming and dancing. In Mexico, they learn about the country's rich cultural heritage through the tradition of Las Posadas, a reenactment of Mary and Joseph's search for shelter.

Their final stop is Iceland, where they witness the magical power of the Northern Lights and the tradition of Jólabókaflóðið, or the "Yule Book Flood," where books are exchanged as Christmas gifts.

Throughout their journey, Pentatonix meets with fans who share their holiday traditions and stories, which inspire the group to create a unique holiday album that showcases a blend of global influences. With their newfound inspiration, they finally escape the mailroom just in time to release the album for the holiday season.
