Paul Blart is a single father who lives with his mother and teenage daughter Maya in a suburban neighborhood. He works as a security guard at the West Orange Pavilion Mall, a job he takes very seriously, even though he is often ridiculed by his colleagues.
During Black Friday, a gang of criminals led by the slick and suave Veck Sims infiltrates the mall with the intent to rob the banks and jewel stores. They take the shoppers and employees hostage, but Blart manages to evade them using his Segway PT.
With the mall in lockdown, Blart is the only one who can help the hostages and stop the robbers. He communicates with the outside world using a handheld radio and sets traps using gadgets he made from mall-related items.
Blart's bravery and quick thinking soon win over the hostages, including the attractive kiosk owner Amy, who he has a crush on. As the situation intensifies, Blart must also face his fear of heights, as he attempts to stop the robbers from escaping via a zip-line.
In the end, Blart saves the day, capturing the criminals and rescuing the hostages. He is hailed as a hero and presented with a medal of valor. The movie ends with Blart and Amy going on a date and his teenage daughter approving of the new woman in his life.
