In the movie, Luke travels to Rome in AD 67 to visit his friend and mentor, Paul, who is currently imprisoned and awaiting his execution by order of Emperor Nero. Luke believes that Paul has a message that needs to be heard and is determined to document it in a new book that will chronicle the early beginnings of the Christian church.
Paul's imprisonment is a result of his teachings, which have angered Nero and his followers. Despite his confinement, Paul continues to spread his message and preach to his fellow prisoners, even converting some to Christianity.
As Luke struggles to find a way to save Paul from his impending execution, he is also haunted by his past actions as a physician and begins to question his own faith. However, with the help of his fellow Christians, he eventually finds the strength to complete his book and continue spreading the message of Christ.
The film portrays Paul as a man of great faith and strength, who remains steadfast in his beliefs even in the face of death. It also explores the themes of forgiveness, redemption, and the power of faith in the face of persecution.
