Emma Fielding is a highly respected archaeologist who is hired by a wealthy family to consult on the acquisition of a castle in Maine. However, the locals believe that the castle is cursed due to a tragic event that took place there hundreds of years ago, and Emma soon finds herself caught up in an eerie mystery.
As she explores the castle, Emma discovers a hidden chamber filled with ancient artifacts. She is shadowing another archaeologist who is the lead in the excavation. However, when she returns to the chamber the next day, she finds his lifeless body lying on the ground.
With the help of her old friend Jim Conner, an FBI special agent with whom Emma shares a romantic history, she begins to investigate the murder.
