Passenger 57 is a 1992 action thriller film directed by Kevin Hooks. The film stars Wesley Snipes as John Cutter, a former police officer and security expert who becomes involved in a deadly game of cat-and-mouse with an infamous terrorist named Charles Rane (played by Bruce Payne).
The film opens with Cutter giving a lecture on airline security to a group of flight attendants. Meanwhile, Rane is being escorted to prison by the FBI after being caught by Cutter in a previous operation. However, Rane manages to escape custody during a restroom break and takes control of a commercial airliner. Cutter happens to be a passenger on the same flight and is forced to take action to stop Rane before it's too late.
As Rane takes control of the plane, he demands that the airline release his associates who are being held in custody. Cutter, who has previous experience with Rane, realizes that the terrorist is plotting a larger attack and cannot be trusted to keep his word. Cutter manages to evade Rane's men and sets out to stop the terrorist and save the passengers on the plane.
Cutter's skills and knowledge of airline security prove to be vital in his attempts to thwart Rane's plans. Along the way, he receives help from a flight attendant named Marti Slayton (played by Alex Datcher) and an FBI agent named Stuart Ramsey (played by Tom Sizemore). Together, they engage in a series of intense action sequences that culminate in a final showdown between Cutter and Rane.
Passenger 57 was a critical and commercial success upon its release, and helped establish Wesley Snipes as a leading action star. The film's high-octane action sequences, tense atmosphere, and charismatic lead performances have made it a cult classic among fans of the genre.
