Overcomer is a 2019 American Christian drama film directed by Alex Kendrick and written by Kendrick and Stephen Kendrick. The film follows high school basketball coach John Harrison, played by Alex Kendrick, who is forced to take over the cross-country team after the school's principal makes budget cuts and cuts all other sports programs.
John is unenthusiastic about coaching cross-country, but he starts to take an interest in his team when he discovers that one of his runners, Hannah Scott, has asthma and a painful past. Determined to help Hannah overcome her physical and emotional challenges, John starts to work with her individually, pushing her to run further and faster than she ever thought possible.
