In the 2018 remake of Overboard, Leonardo Montenegro (played by Eugenio Derbez) is a wealthy and arrogant playboy who owns a extravagant yacht. He hires Kate Sullivan (played by Anna Faris) to clean the yacht and mistreats her in front of his friends. One day, while partying on the yacht, Leonardo falls overboard and wakes up on a beach with amnesia.
Kate decides to get revenge on Leonardo by pretending he is her husband and making him work for her and her three kids. She feels that he needs to learn humility and respect for those who work and struggle to make ends meet. Slowly but surely, Leonardo begins to understand the life of a working-class person and bonds with Kate's family.
However, as Leonardo's memory starts to return and he realizes he has not been living his lavish lifestyle, he starts to fall for Kate and her family. When his memory fully returns, he knows he has to make a choice between returning to his former life or staying with the family he's grown to love.
