Over Your Dead Body is a 2014 Japanese horror-drama film directed by Takashi Miike. Kosuke plays the character of Iemon, a samurai who plots to murder his wife Oiwa after falling in love with another woman. His lover Miyuki portrays Oiwa, who is disfigured and killed by her husband. As the rehearsals progress, the line between the actors' real-life relationships and the characters they portray becomes blurred.
Gradually, Kosuke becomes increasingly fixated on the character of Iemon, leading to tensions in his relationship with Miyuki. Likewise, Miyuki's portrayal of Oiwa starts to bleed into her own personality and she becomes increasingly self-conscious about her appearance. The play's violent themes and supernatural elements also begin to manifest themselves offstage.
As the line between reality and fantasy becomes more and more blurred, the actors struggle to distinguish between their roles and their true selves. The film explores themes of love and jealousy, revenge, and the blurred line between reality and fiction. Miike's signature style of graphic violence and gore is also present, creating a disturbing yet compelling cinematic experience.
