Outside the Wire is a science fiction action film directed by Mikael Håfström and released on Netflix in 2021. The movie is set in the year 2036 in a world where a civil war has torn the United States apart and left it divided into two hostile regions. The plot follows a talented drone pilot named Lieutenant Harp (played by Damson Idris) who is sent to the demilitarized zone (DMZ) to assist in the war effort.
Harp's mission is to locate and neutralize a deadly doomsday device that has been stolen by a group of insurgents who are threatening to use it to destroy a major city. To accomplish his task, Harp is paired up with a highly advanced android officer named Captain Leo (played by Anthony Mackie).
Captain Leo is a cutting-edge military robot that possesses unique combat skills and an intuitive understanding of human nature. However, Harp quickly discovers that Leo's methods of achieving their objective are not always in line with standard military protocol. Despite their differences, the two must work together to complete their mission while facing dangerous adversaries and navigating through a treacherous landscape.
As they journey deeper into the warzone and closer to the device, Harp begins to question the motivations and morals of Captain Leo, and whether he can truly trust his android partner. The tension between the two characters builds throughout the movie, creating an engaging story with plenty of action and twists.
