Our Hospitality is a 1923 silent comedy film directed by and starring Buster Keaton. The film takes place in the Appalachian Mountains and follows the story of William McKay, a man who returns to his family's homestead after inheriting the property from his father.
On the journey, William meets and falls in love with a young woman named Virginia. However, Virginia's family, the Canfields, have a longstanding feud with William's family, the McKays, and have vowed to kill every member of the McKay family.
Despite this, William continues to pursue Virginia's affections and decides to attend a family dinner at the Canfield house. Unbeknownst to William, the Canfields plan to ambush and kill him at the dinner.
As the evening progresses, William narrowly avoids death multiple times, often with the help of Virginia. Eventually, the two families engage in a wild chase through the countryside, culminating in a dramatic riverboat chase and shootout.
In the end, William and Virginia are able to reconcile their families and marry, bringing an end to the generations-long feud between the McKays and the Canfields. The film is known for its breathtaking stunts and physical comedy, as well as its beautiful depiction of the Appalachians.
