Original Sin is a romantic thriller film released in 2001, directed by Michael Cristofer and based on the novel "Waltz into Darkness" by Cornell Woolrich. The movie is set in the late 19th century and stars Antonio Banderas as Luis Vargas, a wealthy Cuban coffee merchant who falls in love with a beautiful American woman named Julia Russell, played by Angelina Jolie.
Luis and Julia meet when Julia responds to his advertisement for a mail-order bride. They get married soon after, but Luis soon discovers that Julia is not who she claimed to be. She reveals that her real name is Bonnie and that she was working with a con artist named Walter Downs to steal Luis's money. Luis forgives Julia and they try to rekindle their relationship, but their troubles are far from over.
Julia's past comes back to haunt her when Walter returns and demands a share of Luis's fortune. Walter is murdered, and Luis becomes the prime suspect. Julia disappears, and Luis goes on the run to clear his name and find his wife. Along the way, he learns more secrets about Julia's identity and her relationship with Walter, as well as the true nature of his feelings for her.
The film is known for its steamy sex scenes, particularly between Banderas and Jolie, who were both at the height of their sex symbol status at the time of the film's release.
