Opera is a 1987 Italian giallo film directed by Dario Argento. The movie follows Betty (played by Cristina Marsillach), a young, rising star in the world of opera who becomes the target of a deranged fan known only as "The Phantom."

The Phantom is obsessed with Betty and believes that she is destined to be his own personal muse. He stalks her relentlessly, killing anyone who stands in his way and leaving a trail of bodies in his wake. Despite the police's best efforts to protect her, Betty becomes increasingly isolated and frightened as The Phantom's grip on her tightens.

As opening night approaches, The Phantom's obsession with Betty reaches new heights. He takes her captive and forces her to watch as he murders her closest friends and colleagues. Betty must use all her wits and strength to survive and to stop The Phantom before it's too late.

Argento's signature style is on full display in Opera - the movie is full of lush, striking visuals, elaborate death scenes, and a suspenseful, engrossing plot. Fans of Italian horror and giallo films will find much to love in this classic thriller.
