Onoda: 10,000 Nights in the Jungle is a French-Japanese co-production directed by Arthur Harari and starring Yuya Endo as Hiroo Onoda. The movie retells the true story of Onoda, who was one of the last Japanese soldiers to surrender after World War II.

Sent to the island of Lubang in the Philippines with three other soldiers, Onoda is given instructions to conduct guerrilla warfare against the American forces and maintain his position until the return of the Imperial Japanese Army. Despite being cut off from the rest of the world, Onoda continues his mission for three decades, relying on his training and determination to survive.

Throughout the years, Onoda witnesses the changing landscapes of the island and meets various people, including a former Filipino soldier who becomes his ally and attempts to convince him to surrender. However, Onoda remains steadfast in his mission, determined to fulfill his duty to the end.

The film captures both the physical and psychological struggles that Onoda faced during his prolonged isolation, and explores the themes of loyalty, duty, and the nature of war. Onoda: 10,000 Nights in the Jungle was well-received by critics for its authentic portrayal of Onoda's story, and was selected as the official Japanese entry for the Best International Feature Film category at the 94th Academy Awards.
