One Sings, the Other Doesn't is a 1977 French drama film directed by Agnes Varda. The movie revolves around the story of two women, Pauline and Suzanne, who became friends in the 1960s in France. To help her friend, Pauline lends Suzanne the money for an abortion. However, the experience changes Suzanne, and she decides to move away to the countryside to raise her children and pursue her passion for singing.
Years later, the two reunite at an abortion rally, and they discover that they have both been working towards the same causes but in different ways. They decide to work together to help other women like themselves who are fighting for their reproductive rights.
Throughout the story, the two women faced many challenges, including poverty, sexism, and government oppression. However, their friendship and determination to stand up for women’s rights kept them growing and thriving.
